The first part of the learning process involved attending a three-day training course by the London College of Fashion (LCF) called Contemporary Fashion Design Workshop. This was delivered by Zarida Zaman, the fashion design lecturer at LCF. Training session at London College of Fashion (LCF).
It covered how to start from a concept and then go through a process of getting inspiration, sketching, using calicos to learn to drape and ending with producing and completing the fashion garment. The idea behind the course was to provide the volunteer fashion recreators with training from one of the best institutions in the field, who could then use the knowledge and skills gained to work on recreating historical dresses.
